When the internet drops

A care tablet keeps working without the internet for whoever is already signed in. Anyone else uses the paper MAR until the connection is back.

Check the top of the screen

  • All saved: everything is saved.
  • Saving…: entries are on their way.
  • Offline — entries saved on this tablet: MapSorix Care keeps what you record on the tablet and sends it by itself when the connection returns.

If you are already signed in

  • Keep recording as usual.
  • If the screen locks, your PIN still unlocks it.
  • Keep MapSorix Care open and the tablet charged. Don’t close the app, restart the tablet or switch users until the top of the screen says All saved again.
  • Signing out waits until your entries are saved, so it won’t finish while the tablet is offline.
  • Once the tablet is back online, if any medication entry wasn’t accepted (for example it was more than 72 hours old by then), a list on the Today screen, the resident’s page and the Daily MAR for that resident says which ones. Record them again, then clear the list.

What doesn’t work offline

  • Signing in. Your PIN is checked by MapSorix Care’s server, so a person starting a shift can’t sign in until the connection is back.
  • Office computers. They keep nothing on the computer, so they need the internet. Only care tablets set up by your administrator keep records for offline use.

The paper MAR

Print a paper copy each morning, so there is always a backup on the unit.

  1. Open Daily MAR.
  2. Tap Print blank sheets for paper charting. Every resident’s sheet prints with each dose left blank for initials and a time.

If nobody on shift can use MapSorix Care, chart on the paper copy with your initials and the time.

When the connection is back, enter each dose in MapSorix Care. It records the time you enter it, so keep the paper sheet: it shows when each dose was actually given. Your home’s policy says where the sheet is filed. Until they are entered, those doses show as Missed in MapSorix Care.
